South Creek High School currently has an opening for a Virtual Learning Facilitator.

) The employee will be required to obtain and maintain a license to drive a school bus and to drive when needed to "efficiently and effectively operate the school transportation system.
" (Board Policy 4701) GRADE: 56 of the State Salary Scale for Classified Employees FLSA: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Principal (Takes direction from School Counselor) SUPERVISES: None TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree related to Education or 48 semester hours of transferable college coursework.

) Experience with computer troubleshooting, preferred Willingness to obtain a bus license/pocket card and to drive a school bus on an “as needed” basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of computer technology and of multimedia, telecommunications, and popular software packages used for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports.
Ability to express ideas orally and in writing effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

Serves as a student advocate to provide direction and support by creating and monitoring processes that will ensure student success in the online environment.
Receives all registrations of students enrolled in North Carolina Virtual Public Schools (NCVPS) and Apex Learning credit recovery courses, including working with the School Counselor(s) to make sure the student has the necessary passwords, codes, or materials to be successful in the class.
Coordinates with the School Counselor to ensure that all courses and grades are placed on the student’s report card and transcript.
Collaborates with School Counselor to coordinate any testing that is mandated by the course or by the state.
This employee is not responsible for testing.
Ensures all students receive the appropriate orientation for all first-time NCVPS/Apex Learning students so that they understand the expectations of the program and the school, along with student and parent information and support sessions.
These sessions should be conducted by the School Counselor.
Monitors all NCVPS/Apex Learning students via bi-weekly progress reports and grade book/spreadsheet.
Communicates and follows up with online instructors regarding student support issues including grades, course attendance, participation, and other processes such as re-test requirements.
Communicates regularly with the School Counselor and administration about student progress, concerns, and student needs.
Assists School Counselor and administration in parent contact and communication.
Takes full responsibility in assisting all students taking online courses and reports any needs or concerns directly to the School Counselor and administration in a timely and appropriate manner.
Stays current on all NCVPS/Apex Learning communications, including E-lerts and NCVPS Director documents and communications (weekly e-letter, the Director’s Blog) and attends online or face-to-face training and coaching sessions.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
(This may include ed2go and Martin Community College course facilitation.
) PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Virtual Learning Facilitator job classification within Martin County Schools.
Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, equipment for children with special needs, etc.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
