Position Summary Operational Excellence supports high reliability in the imperatives of quality, experience, finance, workforce, operations, and capacity.
The Operational Excellence Innovator examines organizational operations using mathematical and analytical techniques to develop optimal business practices and systems.
The role is responsible for leading projects that require a new design from the foundational level.
The role is considered an expert in complex system level modeling and design thinking.
The role will identify and utilize emerging industry and innovation methodologies to drive value for the organization to create high value processes.
The role is expected to connect the dots between external innovations, and existing functional workflows.
The role is expected to translate emerging leading practices into new designs for impactful outcomes.
The role will look for opportunities to solve problems in unusual and innovative ways.
The role will distill complicated problem into simple and sophisticated solutions.
The role will mentor, lead, and inspire internal resources and external partners to achieve outstanding work and innovative product ideas based on research and insights.
The role is considered an expert with data, advanced statistical analysis, simulation, empirical research, system design, design thinking, and improvement methodologies.
The role will consistently be researching emerging processes and designs to trend the organization to future designs.
Responsibilities Manages complex strategic and operational excellence initiatives and value streams simultaneously in alignment to the System Design Thinking and Operational Excellence methodology.
Aligns subject matter expertise into interdisciplinary groups to foster collaborative and highly reliable system and process (re)designs.
Performs workflow assessments/value stream evaluations to identify strategic optimization opportunities.
Determines and applies advanced statistical methods and design thinking to support innovation and optimization of opportunity.
Performs at an expert level in the fundamentals of operational excellence practical application within engagements.
Serves as a coach and mentor to the Operations Excellence team as well as leaders across the health system as they develop competency to independently lead and facilitate process improvements in their areas of responsibility.
Supports the optimization and innovation of system design efforts of the enterprise by establishing system level work design, work methods, standard work instructions, procedures, and/or policies as outcomes to operational excellence initiative change.
Partners with multidisciplinary subject matter experts to validate work design and standard work products are in alignment to business and regulatory requirements.
Captures business value propositions from each activity and develops reports of continuous improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, activities and needs.
Supports the enterprise in providing compelling communication to governance on business cases for change related to operational excellence.
Elevates identified discoveries to leadership of initiatives that will provide value to improving processes and core business performance.
Provides supportive training on the operational excellence methodology, tools and processes across the enterprise, with intent to empower continuous improvement execution at the front line.
Partners with the community of practice to integrate approaches on supportive methodologies.
Holds responsibility to update materials in the Center of Excellence and connect materials to team members and leaders.
Responsible to partner with leadership pathway organizational development structures.
Acts as a subject matter expert in operational excellence and represents the enterprise as an expert internally and externally of the organization.
Promotes a culture of customer service excellence by growing trusted relationships and open partnerships internally and externally.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service by providing responsive and effective support, developing solid working relationships with end user customers, and delivering high-quality, value-added services that exceed customer expectations.
Develops and maintains a culture that promotes service excellence and team member empowerment to act in the best interest of operational partners who are directly caring for our patients.
Assumes responsibility to lead team members upon identified readiness of the Director.

Minimum Requirements Master's degree or higher 10 years of experience in leading teams and enterprise level continuous improvement initiatives with a deep understanding of health care operations as well as the current business issues and trends influencing health care providers.
Demonstrated experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, knowledge and experience with a Design for Six Sigma approach, and system value stream analysis.
Practical use of system design, design thinking, innovation, or experimentation strategies is a requirement.
A track record of achieving results by leading improvement programs in a large, complex multi-entity organization at an enterprise level.
Project Management Professional certification Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required within one year of hire.
