Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has entered an agreement to acquire all North Carolina-based locations of FastMed.
This pending acquisition is planned to close in early 2024.
This would enable FastMed and Blue Cross NC, two North Carolina companies, to work together to fortify health care capacity in the state so North Carolinians have access to critical points of quality, affordable care.
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides medical care to patients entering the urgent care facility Supports the company standards of care Complies with established standards, practices, and regulatory requirements Assures the needs of the patient are being met while remaining within the scope of practice as stated in State Statute and by the North Carolina Medical Board DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards Comes prepared to care for patients.
Supports the company and urgent care site through actions as well as words Interacts with the manager regularly.
Keeps manager and medical director informed of concerns and potential liability situations Renders medical care to all patients who present to the urgent care on all assigned shifts.
If unable to do so, the physician makes arrangements to have that shift covered and notifies the VP of Provider Relations and Provider Relations Manager.
Arrives at the Urgent Care on the scheduled day at the start of shift (on time) and ready to work and leaves after the clinic closes and the last patient has left the premises.
Obtains an adequate history and performs an appropriate physical examination for the presenting problem Orders pertinent laboratory and radiographic studies as needed based on the initial evaluation.
Makes appropriate therapeutic decisions in conjunction with the patient based on the information gathered Administers appropriate medication or treatment as necessary Completely documents the patient encounter in accordance with FastMed documentation norms and signs the EMR.
Reviews all provider related ques while on shift and completes necessary task and signs diagnostic reports and follows up on patient care as indicated Agrees to participate in periodic Urgent Care staff meetings Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with urgent care standards Abides by Universal Precaution and promotes the use of the precautions.
Ensures accurate maintenance of patient's medical records and the patient records are treated per FastMed’s HIPAA and PHI Policies as confidential information.
Participates in the development of education programs for the urgent care staff.
Attends meetings as required Attends education programs as needed Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends Be available and participate in on-call assignments Participates in the onboarding, orientation, and/or training of newly hired personnel Participates in the orientation and/or training of students including but not limited to: Physician Assistants, Clinical Assistants & Other Allied Health Staff Performs other related duties as assigned.

Graduate of an approved medical or osteopathic medical school.
BLS certification required unless board certified in emergency medicine.
Active clinical practice within 6 months of hire.
Board certification is required for all physicians who are more than twelve months outside of residency.
Board eligibility is allowed for physicians who are within twelve months of completed residency upon hire and must be board certified upon re-credentialing (within 2 years of start date).
\*\*All current team members in this role on the effective date of 9/1/2022 are exempt from this requirement.
\*\* Preferred Professional Qualifications: Board certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and/or Primary Care Medicine.
Previous experience in an outpatient medical clinic or urgent care center.
Additional Qualifications: Understands and values the importance of both a team approach to patient care and conflict resolution in dealing with patients.
